The amount of space between two people, that is all it is, space. Yet it can be the main issue in a relationship. I ask myself if it is possible to love another person deeply and it be enough for them despite the distance. There is so much faith one must put into being in a non long distance relationship and into falling in love, let alone so much more when it is long distance. Perhaps you don’t notice it when you give your heart to another person but like my favorite philosopher Alan Watts once said “When falling in love we must take a leap of faith, just like we don’t know the floor will crumble under our feet, we still choose to walk and run every day. We must trust the process and hope one of the people we chose to love will not hurt us” and eventually one will not hurt us, one will choose to love us unconditionally.
Regardless, the fact is no matter the distance or person. loving someone will always consist of having faith. Small or big, faith is required. I once read “Years from now, our past will be a story. A story of long days, lonely nights, hard work and lack of sleep. We’ll live each day having intimately knowing the pain of being apart, We’ll appreciate and embrace our time together, knowing how lucky we are to have made it through, and we will find solace in the promise of a future together,” Its true though, although it is hard work and upsetting at times, there is comfort in knowing we do it to build a future together. A long distance relation is way more serious and mature than most “normal relationships”, So I think at least considering the fact you truly are looking for a future with the other person and that is why you are willing to put so much effort and time into them, unlike others where you just date because you like the person and never really think about the future.
Despite it all, the lonely nights, the months waiting and doubts if you love someone, and I mean really truly love someone you will do it all to make it work. We all search for a love that is unbreakable, a love you can spend time together and make spectacular moment, amazing memories, have someone that loves you unconditionally and has no limit to be yours. Yet long distance is that beautiful thing we search for, of course you could possibly get that without the distance but the distance is the hard part to see if the person you love be willing to over look it, cross the world for you, go through the lonely nights and do it all for you, is that not a sign of unconditional and limitless love? Everyone always says they love a person so much they would go to the ends of the world and back but when the time comes they cant make their relationship work from two hours away, but the ones that make it work from miles and miles apart isn’t that real love. There is beauty in the struggle, and if you love someone, nothing, not distance should stop you from being with them because you know nothing can separate you two because you know its real.
